Worming Survey 2011

Free wormers and Free worm egg counts for your horses.

We have long advocated the targeted use of wormers to improve horse health. Our latest edition of equine news details why it is so important that we use wormers only when needed rather than just treating regularly whether needed or not.
To raise awareness and promote this further, we are carrying out a survey in spring 2011 to assess the worm burden in our local horses. We will need to visit you twice to collect fresh dung samples for worm egg counts. At the same time you will need to complete a short questionnaire and allow us to weigh tape your horses so you will need to be present at each visit. We will contact you with the results of the worm egg count and if a wormer is needed we will supply it. A follow up visit and worm egg count will need to be done whether a wormer is needed or not. Please do take part. Just e mail us at horse@georgevetgroup.co.uk to sign up and we will be in contact. There is no cost to you at all for this service. Horses must be a minimum of 4 years old to be eligible to take part.

Spring Offer for 2011 on Colt Castrations

New Price £75 + VAT. Further discount available on multiple castrations done at the same visit.

We are aware that there are a number of people with extra youngstock which under a different economic climate may have been sold on by now. Thus if you have colts that need castrating this Spring or are thinking of buying an uncut youngster, then read on!

We are offering a price reduction on colt castrates this Spring without any reduction in the quality or standard of the service provided. If you are getting quotes for colt castrates, then do make sure you are comparing like with like. We do all castrates standing under sedation unless there is a medical reason why a general anaesthetic is needed. We also believe that a post op dose of pain killer and anti inflammatory should be given in the interests of the horse’s welfare.

Likewise, tetanus cover should also either be in place pre op or given at the time. In addition we use high quality well maintained and sterilised emasculators to reduce the risk of bleeding and infection post op. All this is on offer for £75 + VAT and drugs and visit fee.
